Jakarta DKI Agency Seals Off Jakbar Minimarket Selling Alcohol Without a Permit
The Jakarta Provincial Department for Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) has temporarily sealed a minimarket identified as HMI in West Jakarta. The action followed the outlet’s alleged sale of Group A alcoholic beverages in retail without a licence. Head of the PPKUKM, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said the finding came during routine surveillance. On-site inspections revealed Group A alcoholic beverages displayed and sold retail by outlet HMI. ‘During the surveillance, the sale of alcoholic beverages was suspected not to be accompanied by the special permit required for alcohol commodities. On that basis, the sale of alcohol by HMI is suspected not to conform with the business licence held,’ Elisabeth said in a press release in Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3/3026). Based on a review of licensing documents via the Online Single Submission Risk-Based Approach (OSS RBA) system and direct verification, it was found that outlet HMI operates in the retail trade sector. The premises hold a general trading licence. However, in the licensing data for the outlet that was examined, PT HMI did not possess a KBLI specifically for alcoholic beverages that has been verified in an active NIB. Moreover, the outlet HMI did not hold a retail licence for Group A alcoholic beverages (SKP-A). Administratively, PT HMI committed several violations, including selling Group A alcoholic beverages without a licence, conducting activities not explicitly listed in the business licence, and failing to meet the requirements governing the control and distribution of alcoholic beverages in accordance with regulations. ‘As a follow-up, the PPKUKM has taken security measures and temporarily sealed the Group A alcoholic beverages. It has also issued a written warning to the operator to promptly fulfil licensing obligations,’ Elisabeth added.
