Jakarta Disaster Management Agency Urges Coastal Residents to be Wary of Tidal Flooding from 25 February to 1 March
The Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has urged residents in the northern coastal areas of Jakarta to be wary of potential flooding caused by rising sea levels, or ‘rob’, between 25 February and 1 March 2026. This warning was issued following the maximum sea-level phenomenon coinciding with the Perigee phase.
BPBD Jakarta stated that the Maritime Meteorological Station Class I Tanjung Priok had provided information that this phenomenon has the potential to increase the height of the maximum sea tide, thus triggering tidal flooding in several coastal areas of northern Jakarta. The peak tide is predicted to occur in the morning.
“The peak maximum tide is estimated to occur between 05:00-09:00 WIB,” BPBD Jakarta wrote in a statement on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Several areas that have the potential to be affected include Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok, and the Thousand Islands.
BPBD urges the public to increase vigilance regarding changes in weather and sea conditions. Residents are also asked to avoid activities in coastal areas that are at risk of being affected by tidal flooding.
The public is also asked to check the drainage in their surrounding environment. Residents are asked to contact the Jakarta Siaga service at 112 if an emergency occurs.
