Jakarta Central Police Seize 35,143 Banned Drug Pills and Arrest 14 Sellers in Three Months
Police have seized 35,143 banned drug pills in the Central Jakarta (Jakpus) area. They also arrested 14 sellers of the banned drugs.
“There were 14 police reports with 14 suspects, and evidence of 35,143 pills secured in high-risk areas,” stated the Head of Central Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, during a press conference at the Central Jakarta Police Headquarters on Friday (20/3/2026).
The arrests were made over a three-month period from January to March 2026. He said the circulation of banned drugs also takes advantage of situations.
“In this regard, this is not just up to now; we will continue to carry out supervision and enforcement in places prone to the sale of banned drugs,” he explained.
“This further confirms that narcotics and dangerous drug crimes are not only carried out progressively but also exploit various situations,” he added.
He said that banned drug and narcotics dealers often take opportunities or exploit community events. They wait for moments when police attention is divided.
“Specifically now, when we in the police are conducting Operasi Ketupat Jaya 2026,” he added.
Reynold emphasised that his side will not be complacent and will continue to enhance vigilance and strategic measures to close every loophole in narcotics distribution.
“We believe that success in eradicating narcotics is inseparable from close collaboration between the National Police and the community. Therefore, we invite all levels of society to actively participate and not hesitate to provide any information, no matter how small, to the police if they know of narcotics circulation in their surroundings,” he concluded.
