Jakarta Barat Satpol PP intensifies crackdown on 'Pak Ogah' in Grogol Petamburan (Gropet)
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the West Jakarta Social Service Agency (Sudin Sosial) have stepped up enforcement against ‘Pak Ogah’ at several hotspot points in the Grogol Petamburan area (Gropet) following reports from residents about illicit traffic controllers in the area.
In the report, many motorists who do not give money are often detained, causing long traffic jams. This occurred around the elevated road project (flyover) on Latumeten Street.
The similar situation occurred at the Pesing Street junction, under the Daan Mogot flyover. In fact, ‘Pak Ogah’ even opened the busway barriers to use as a site for illegal levies.
‘We followed up by carrying out enforcement from 3 March 2026. The operation involved dozens of combined officers targeting vulnerable PPKS (Recipients of Social Welfare Services) at the Pesing junction (under the Daan Mogot flyover), Latumeten Street, Makaliwe Street, Semeru Street and S. Parman Street,’ he said.
For the enforcement at the Pesing junction, near West Jakarta Police Headquarters, officers managed to apprehend one PPKS and subsequently sent him to Kedoya Social Shelter for assessment and guidance.
‘In that area, we arrested seven PPKS, consisting of five ’Pak Ogah’ and two peddlers. They were taken to Kedoya Social Shelter for assessment and guidance, accompanied by a deed of handover,’ he explained.
Following the PPKS clearance, Herry continued, he and Sudin Sosial Jakarta Barat carried out patrols and supervision at the PPKS hotspot locations.
The operation was carried out under Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2007 on public order, as emphasised in Article 7 Paragraph (2): ‘Any person or group who does not have the authority to collect money from public transport or goods transport will be subject to penalties’.
Meanwhile, the Sub-district Head (Camat) of Grogol Petamburan, Raditian Ramajaya stated that they coordinate with Transjakarta to monitor busway lanes at the Pesing junction, under the Daan Mogot flyover.
‘Usually there are officers who regulate Transjakarta bus traffic during peak hours. We have also asked Satpol PP to patrol and supervise around the area to help ensure smooth traffic,’ he said.
