Iwan Koswara Highlights Posyandu Incentives and Flood Management Issues in Bekasi
Bekasi — Iwan Koswara, a member of the West Java Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), raised concerns about several public service issues during a government oversight agenda in Jatirasa Village, Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, on Friday, 22 May 2026.
During a dialogue with residents, Iwan received various aspirations relating to basic community needs, including job training, welfare for Posyandu health workers, flood management, and BPJS health insurance service issues.
According to him, direct oversight at the village level is essential to ensure government programmes truly benefit the community. “We want to ensure government programmes are well-targeted and address residents’ actual needs in the field,” Iwan said.
One concern raised was the limited access residents have to job training programmes through the Balai Latihan Kerja (BLK, Vocational Training Centre). Residents hope skills training can be brought closer to their communities through implementation at village or neighbourhood association (RW) level, making it more accessible to job seekers.
Residents also complained about minimal incentives for Posyandu health workers. According to Iwan, these health workers play an important role in community healthcare, particularly for mothers and children. “The workload of Posyandu health workers is quite substantial, so they deserve greater attention to their welfare,” he said.
Flooding in RW 011 of Jatirasa Village also drew attention. Residents requested water channel normalisation and embankment reinforcement to reduce inundation risks during the rainy season. Additionally, the community sought support for disaster logistics, such as inflatable boats and life jackets, to assist in independent evacuation during floods.
The issue of unpaid BPJS health insurance contributions was also raised by some residents. This situation has caused difficulties for several people in accessing healthcare services because their membership status is blocked.
Responding to these various concerns, Iwan assured residents that all field findings would be brought to the West Java DPRD for discussion with relevant departments and authorities. He emphasised that flood management, healthcare, and Posyandu health worker welfare must receive serious attention from local government.
“We will coordinate flood management and evacuation equipment needs with the local government and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). Regarding BPJS and Posyandu health workers, these are basic community needs that must be championed,” Iwan stated.
