ITX 2026: Time for Investors and Operators to Assess Indonesia's Hospitality Opportunities
Collaboration is the key to navigating a new phase of national tourism growth. Through Indonesia Tourism Xchange 2026 (ITX 2026), hotel owners, operators, investors, and decision-makers will gather in a strategic forum to assess opportunities and formulate the direction of industry development.
ITX 2026 will be held on 12 May 2026 at The Langham, Jakarta, organised by Horwath HTL, C9 Hotelworks, STR, QUO Global, Greenview, and Delivering Asia alongside Langham Hospitality Group, with support from Jakarta Hotels Association, PHRI Indonesia, and Bali Hotels Association.
ITX 2026 is designed to reflect the unique character of Indonesian tourism whilst addressing changing needs of travellers, global brands, and investors. The forum will open with discussions on investment climate and tourism prospects for 2026, before progressing to strategic issues including luxury hospitality, business performance, technology, and sustainability.
Sherona Shng, Regional Vice President Operations Asia for Langham Hospitality Group, notes that the redefinition of luxury in Indonesia is no longer solely determined by scale or the grandeur of facilities.
Luxury hospitality is increasingly underpinned by cultural intelligence, service personalisation, and emotional connection with destinations. “Luxury travellers coming to Indonesia are not seeking replicas of global hotels,” Sherona Shng said in a press statement. “They are seeking meaning, context, and experiences that reflect the character of the destination. Successful brands are those capable of understanding the complexity of Indonesian culture and delivering experiences that feel personal, not uniform.”
Hotel performance and demand dynamics will form a focus of ITX 2026’s agenda, including the performance of upper-upscale and luxury assets in resort destinations and major cities amid shifting market trends.
Matt Gebbie, Director Pacific Asia for Horwath HTL, believes Indonesia’s tourism prospects for 2026 remain promising but require more measured strategies. “Indonesia’s opportunity is not merely growth, but intelligent growth,” he said.
Luxury hotels now face higher expectations regarding performance, return on investment, and differentiation. Understanding the right destinations and segments is key for investors and operators.
Additionally, ITX 2026 will address several strategic issues, ranging from hospitality technology and sustainability strategies to industry leadership and asset ownership transition.
Hotel design rooted in local cultural context has also come into focus, reflecting a shift towards more contextual hospitality development that is sustainable and aligned with Indonesia’s unique character.
As Indonesia’s tourism industry matures and the concept of luxury shifts towards more authentic experiences, ITX 2026 is expected to become an annual industry forum presenting strategic perspectives on business performance, investment opportunities, and brand development direction in one of Asia’s most dynamic tourism markets.
