REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The hosting of the 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in The Mandalika area produced a national economic impact of Rp4.96 trillion. This figure is based on a study compiled by the Institute of Industrial Management Technology at Bandung Institute of Technology (LETMI ITB).

Chairman of the 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia and ITDC Operations Director Troy Warokka, in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026), said this achievement demonstrates that the MotoGP event is not only an international sports agenda but also provides tangible contributions to economic activities.

“This achievement confirms that the MotoGP event at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is not merely an international sports event but also delivers real contributions to national and regional economic movements,” Troy stated.

He explained that the event attracted 140,324 spectators with a 100 percent hotel occupancy rate in the Mandalika area. Occupancy rates were also high in surrounding areas, at 93 percent on Lombok Island and 90 percent in Mataram City.

Additionally, more than 600 local SMEs were involved in the organisation, and over 3,000 workers were absorbed, with 67 percent from Central Lombok Regency.

According to Troy, the development of The Mandalika area is directed towards strengthening the sport tourism ecosystem that connects the sports, tourism, and local economy sectors.

“The development of The Mandalika is a long-term investment in realising a sport tourism ecosystem in Indonesia that can integrate the sports sector, tourism sector, and local economic development, including SMEs,” Troy said.

He added that hosting international events at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit demonstrates its potential as an economic growth driver. ITDC, together with the Injourney Group, continues to promote the area as a premier sport tourism destination.

Based on the LETMI ITB study, the economic impact of MotoGP Mandalika includes increased tourism activities, local economic circulation, job creation, and strengthening Indonesia’s global image.

“These figures reflect a multiplier effect that far exceeds the event’s organisation costs,” Troy said.

Looking ahead, ITDC states it will continue coordinating with stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of such international events with increasingly optimal management.

“With the development methods we are implementing, we are optimistic about making The Mandalika a premier sport tourism destination in Indonesia while strengthening global competitiveness,” Troy said.
