ITB and Prasetiya Mulya University Forge Strategic Partnership for Integrated Bachelor's-Master's Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Universitas Prasetiya Mulya have forged a strategic partnership in organising the Integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s Programme (PSMT), which allows students to pursue bachelor’s and master’s education in a continuous pathway.
Through this programme, students in the Digital Business Technology and AI & Robotics programmes at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya can follow an accelerated study scheme lasting five years to obtain two degrees simultaneously: a bachelor’s from Universitas Prasetiya Mulya and a master’s from ITB.
Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) at ITB, Tutun Juhana, stated that the partnership is part of efforts to strengthen synergy between higher education institutions in preparing outstanding talent in the technology field.
“This is not merely a campus collaboration, but a joint effort to accelerate Indonesia’s industrial progress through the development of superior talent,” Tutun said in a written statement received on Friday.
This scheme is considered more efficient compared to the conventional pathway, which typically requires up to six years or more, including the matriculation stage, to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees separately.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programme at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, Permata Nur Miftahur Rizki, stated that the programme provides a more directed and efficient pathway for students continuing their studies.
“Through the Integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s Programme (PSMT), students have the opportunity to pursue studies in a more directed and efficient manner. In five years, students can earn two degrees at once. Additionally, access to ITB’s academic experience is now closer as it is integrated into the learning ecosystem at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya,” she explained.
In the initial stage, the partnership focuses on education through a cross-institutional credit-taking scheme.
Students from Universitas Prasetiya Mulya can take several master’s-level courses at ITB while still in bachelor’s status, which will later be recognised as part of the master’s curriculum when they continue their studies at ITB.
In the future, both educational institutions plan to develop collaboration in applied research oriented towards industry needs.
