Jakarta — The Director of Security and Defence at Indonesia’s South-South Foundation (ISSF), Fathira Salsabila, has asserted that Indonesia possesses moral and diplomatic legitimacy in advancing the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

According to her, Indonesia also has a relevant role in global peace diplomacy. “This includes through the two-state solution approach, which is frequently presented at various international forums,” Fathira said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In this regard, the Board of Advisors of the Indonesia South-South Foundation (ISSF), Khairy Fuady, assessed that the emergence of the Board of Peace represents an effort to strengthen governance of global peace amid increasingly complex international geopolitical dynamics.

“The presence of the Board of Peace should be viewed as part of the collective effort of the international community in seeking new approaches to maintain world stability and peace,” said Khairy.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Indonesia South-South Foundation (ISSF), Akbar Azmi Hardjasasmita, emphasised the importance of clarity regarding the mechanisms and authority of the institution, particularly following its recognition through United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

“Going forward, the effectiveness of the Board of Peace will be largely determined by the clarity of institutional structure and support from member states,” he said.

In a broader context, according to him, Indonesia’s involvement in the Board of Peace is seen as part of efforts to ensure that the Gaza reconstruction process remains oriented towards a two-state solution, despite facing various challenges and international political dynamics.
