InJourney, the state-owned aviation and tourism holding company, remains optimistic about sustaining Indonesia’s tourism sector growth amid escalating geopolitical tensions globally. Veronica Sisilia, InJourney’s Commercial Director, stated that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East will inevitably affect the tourism and aviation industries, including potential cancellations of international flights and rising global oil prices, which have reached approximately 100 US dollars per barrel.

“What is happening today, volatility in energy prices, exchange rates, and other factors will certainly impact us all, and we all understand this,” Veronica said during a press conference at Gedung Sarinah on Monday (9 March 2026) regarding InJourney Hospitality’s readiness for the 2026 Eid holiday period.

Despite the possibility of flight cancellations or operational disruptions, she assessed that Indonesia’s national tourism sector possesses resilience due to strong domestic market demand. Veronica remained confident because domestic tourism demand in Indonesia continues to perform well.

InJourney is preparing for the peak Eid 2026 holiday season with several flagship programmes that emphasise cultural values. Veronica assessed that delivering excellent service during the Eid holiday period represents an opportunity for InJourney to sustain positive trends in Indonesia’s tourism sector.

“We want everyone to enjoy this Eid with the spirit of returning home, travelling, gathering with family, boarding aircraft, and so on. That is what we emphasise for the current situation,” she added.

Veronica reported that domestic tourists numbered approximately 101 million trips in 2025 with growth of approximately 14.4 per cent. Additionally, international tourist arrivals recorded approximately 1.14 million.

“We still see forecasted growth in incoming tourists throughout 2025 until December closure of approximately 14.4 per cent. We hope domestic tourism remains strong,” she said.

She stated that InJourney remained optimistic about occupancy trends at state-owned destinations and hotels this year. InJourney, Veronica continued, projects visitor growth of approximately 15 per cent, particularly in the Borobudur, Ratu Boko, and Prambanan areas. Meanwhile, hotels managed by InJourney Hospitality are estimated to experience occupancy growth of approximately 10 per cent.

“InJourney hopes to provide an enjoyable experience for tourists celebrating Eid al-Fitr with their families, whether through holiday travel or vacation activities,” said Veronica.
