Israel Detains Over 100 West Bank Palestinians Since Start of Ramadan
Tehran (ANTARA) - Palestinian human rights groups have said that the Israeli Zionist regime has detained more than 100 people in the occupied West Bank since the start of Ramadan.
A statement from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), cited by the Anadolu news agency on Sunday, said the arrests took place during Israeli raids on cities across the West Bank, including al-Quds, since 18 February.
According to the report, the detainees include children, women, and individuals who had previously been held. The arrests were marked by “severe beatings, organised acts of terrorism against prisoners and their families, along with widespread sabotage and destruction of residents’ homes and the seizure of vehicles, money, and gold jewellery”.
Currently, more than 9,300 Palestinians, including 350 children and 66 women, are being held in Israeli prisons.
Many of the Palestinians were arrested without charges or trial proceedings under administrative detention — a policy that allows the Israeli regime to hold Palestinians indefinitely.
Palestinian and international human rights groups have frequently reported that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to torture, starvation, and denial of medical care, resulting in a significant number of deaths in Israeli prisons.
The Israeli regime has continued its repression and raids in the occupied West Bank since the genocidal war against the besieged Gaza Strip began in 2023.
