Israel Attacks Iran; Pramono Urges Everyone to Safeguard Jakarta
JAKARTA – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has called on all parties to maintain stability and security in the capital following the escalation of global conflict between Israel and Iran on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to communicate and coordinate to ensure that conditions in Jakarta remain conducive, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
“We will continue communicating to safeguard Jakarta properly. So once again, I am grateful that we can all protect our Jakarta together,” Pramono said during a joint iftar event at Pondok Pesantren Al Hamid Putra in Cilangkap, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Saturday.
He warned that international-scale conflict has the potential to cause economic impacts, both directly and indirectly.
“Whatever happens, war will certainly have impacts, both direct and indirect,” he stated.
According to Pramono, one of the risks requiring anticipation is the rise in prices of basic necessities as well as disruptions to global supply chains.
“If anything happens, it will certainly cause price increases and also disrupt the supply chain,” he added.
The Israeli government subsequently closed airspace and declared a state of emergency. According to The Guardian, the airspace closure was implemented as a precautionary measure in case Iran retaliates with drones and missiles.
An Israeli military spokesperson described the bombardment as a preliminary strike to eliminate threats to the nation.
Regional authorities in Jakarta are now monitoring developments in this global situation to anticipate further impacts, particularly on economic stability and security ahead of the Lebaran holiday period.
