Israel Attack Targets Five Iranian Oil Facilities, Four Dead
The United States and Israel attacked five oil facilities around Iran’s capital, Tehran. The strikes killed four people.
‘Last night, four oil depots and centres for transporting crude products in Tehran and Alborz were attacked by enemy aircraft,’ said Keramat Veyskarami, chief executive of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, to Iran’s state television, as reported by AFP on Sunday (8 March 2026).
Four people were killed in the incident. There was some damage at the sites, but the fires were brought under control.
‘Four of our personnel, including two tanker truck drivers, were killed in the incident,’ Veyskarami said.
He said the energy infrastructure facilities had ‘suffered damage’ but ‘the blaze was under control’.
Following the attack, smoke from the fires covered Tehran overnight, and created a dark haze across the city by morning. Residents reported a burning smell remained in the air.
Veyskarami said Iran’s oil depots had ‘sufficient gasoline reserves’.
It is known that on 28 February, the US and Israel launched an attack against Iran that killed its top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and triggered a war in the Middle East. Iran responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and US interests across the region.
