The term "isolated tribe" carries connotations of oppression
and is somewhat insulting. The isolated tribe is regarded as a
culturally primitive group.

Unfortunately, the Department of Social Affair has given only
a vague definition of "isolated tribe" and the government at the
same time label the tribe as "nomads" or "semi-nomads" with a
primitive culture.

The Dayak tribe, however, has plainly rejected the term
"isolated tribe." I hope the media will try to find a better term
for this special group. Meanwhile definition of the isolated
tribe is still a controversial issue.
