Islamic university appoints professor

JAKARTA (JP): Koswara, the dean of the Social and Political
Sciences school of the Syekh Yusuf Islamic University in
Tangerang, was yesterday appointed as the university's first
professor of political sciences.

The spokesman for the private university, Eno Suhendy told
Antara yesterday that the appointment was contained in a decision
made by the Minister of Education and Culture dated Jan. 1, 1995.

Born in Garut, West Java, in Sept. 1952, Koswara gained his
doctoral degree in political sciences from the Bandung-based
state-run Pajajaran University after successfully defending his
thesis.

The official inauguration of Koswara will be carried
out in the near future. Minister of Education and Culture
Wardiman Djojonegoro is scheduled to attend the inauguration. The
Syekh Yusuf Islamic University which was established in 1966 is
of one of the country's oldest private universities. (bas)
