IRGC Releases Video of Khorramshahr-4 Missile Launch Towards Tel Aviv
TEHERAN — On Thursday (5 March 2026) the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a video showing the launch of the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile. According to Al Mayadeen, the 1-ton warhead missile was launched toward Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel. The IRGC had recently unveiled an underground missile city while introducing the Khorramshahr-4, which it claims to be the most advanced in its missile collection. With a range of up to 2,000 kilometres and a warhead of 1,500 kilograms, the Khorramshahr-4 is designed to penetrate even the most sophisticated air defence systems. The missile reportedly travels at hypersonic Mach 16 in space and Mach 8 on re-entry, making it difficult for enemies to track. Its manoeuvring technology (MaRV) and guidance systems render it highly accurate at striking targets, and it is equipped with a low radar cross-section and other electronics. When first released on 25 June 2023, Khorramshahr-4 measured 13 metres in length, 1.5 metres in diameter, and weighed about 30 tonnes. With those dimensions, the Khorramshahr-4 stands as the heaviest ballistic missile in Iran’s inventory capable of carrying a payload heavier than 1 tonne. The Khorramshahr-4 uses a sophisticated Arvand engine, powered by hypergolic liquid fuel, enabling operation in complex military campaigns and rapid preparation. A key innovation places the engine within the fuel tank, improving structural stability and enhancing ballistic performance and accuracy. Tehran Times reports that Iran’s domestically developed ballistic missile programme, pursued amid decades of international sanctions, has grown into one of the country’s key defence systems. Since its first launch in 2017 up to the fourth generation, the Khorramshahr-4 reflects a legacy of Iran’s ongoing missile innovation.
