IRGC Detains 10 Alleged US-Israeli Spies, Threatens Wartime Punishment
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has confirmed the detention of 10 individuals suspected of collaborating with United States and Israeli intelligence services. The arrests were made amid an extremely volatile security situation following military aggression against Tehran in late February.
“Ten individuals who collaborated with the United States and Israel have been identified and detained,” stated an official IRGC statement as reported by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
The IRGC has given strong indications that the detainees will not face trial through normal legal procedures. Given that the country is engaged in armed conflict, the IRGC stated that the suspects will receive wartime punishment.
This action was taken in response to air strikes launched by the United States and Israel on 28 February 2026. These strikes targeted several strategic locations in Tehran, resulting in infrastructure damage and civilian casualties.
The conflict reached a critical point following the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on the first day of the US-Israeli military operation. Currently, the Islamic Republic of Iran is observing a 40-day national period of mourning.
Although Western officials initially claimed the strikes were preemptive measures to halt Iran’s nuclear programme, the narrative has shifted toward a regime change operation in Iran. This has sparked retaliatory strikes from Iran targeting US military facilities throughout the Middle Eastern region.
As of this report, the identities of the 10 detained individuals have not been disclosed to the public. However, IRGC counter-intelligence operations are reportedly continuing to sweep for other foreign spy networks within Iranian territory.
