IRGC Commander: From Now On, Iran Will Only Launch Missiles with Minimum 1-Tonne Warheads
Iran has begun changing its war tactics against the United States and Israel. Brigadier General Majid Mousavi, Commander of the Air Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced that Iran will begin using missiles with large warheads after successfully destroying layers of enemy air defence systems.
“From now on, no missiles with warheads of less than 1 tonne will be launched. The duration of launches and wave levels of attacks will increase, and their range will be wider,” Mousavi stated in a post on X, according to WANA news agency on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
On Monday, the IRGC released videos of missile launches targeting Israel and US assets in the region as part of Operation True Promise 4. In the 31st wave of attacks, the launched missiles were dedicated to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
“The 31st wave of Operation True Promise 4 has been launched forcefully against American-Zionist targets using heavy-duty missiles, dedicated to the Supreme Leader of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, under the code ‘Labbaik Ya Khamenei’,” the IRGC stated, according to Al Mayadeen.
According to Al Mayadeen reports, the missile Iran deployed on this occasion was the Khorramshahr-4, a ballistic missile with a warhead exceeding one tonne. Previously on Thursday, 5 March 2026, it released a video of the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile launch targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
The Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile is claimed to be the most advanced among Iran’s missile collection. With a range of up to 2,000 kilometres and a 1,500-kilogramme warhead, the Khorramshahr-4 is designed to penetrate and overcome any advanced air defence system.
