Jakarta (ANTARA) — Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has stated that the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a fatwa declaring the use of nuclear weapons haram, though his enemies have killed him under the pretext of such weapons. ‘Our great leader has already issued a fatwa that all forms of storage, production, and use of nuclear weapons are haram,’ Boroujerdi said at an event on Petitions Signing and Joint Prayer in response to aggression by the United States and Israel at the Iranian Ambassador’s residence in Jakarta on Thursday.

The ambassador emphasised that all nuclear activities in Iran are entirely under the full oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He said the targeting of Khamenei on grounds of developing nuclear weapons was purely a pretext for assassination. ‘They (the US and Israel) are only seeking pretexts and reasons to attack Iran; and when attacking Iran, two primary targets in the early stages of the assault were the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a girls’ primary school,’ he said.

Boroujerdi also noted that Khamenei is a leader who has always promoted peace and stability. Nevertheless, the US and Israel’s military aggression on Saturday (28 February) has claimed the life of Khamenei, with the supreme leader reportedly opposing what Boroujerdi described as ‘state-based terrorism.’ Emphasising Khamenei’s hardline stance against Israel, the ambassador said the leader never ‘smiles’ at the Netanyahu regime. ‘He is a leader who never smiles at the Zionist regime of Israel. He believes that if Muslims wish to be a great and noble Ummah, they must continue to take a firm stance against the Zionists,’ Boroujerdi asserted firmly.

US President Donald Trump stated that his forces launched a major military operation in Iran to protect its people, removing what he claimed was a threat arising from alleged nuclear development by Iran. Iran then launched a retaliatory missile attack on Israel and US military facilities in the Middle East. The escalation comes as nuclear talks in Geneva between the US and Iran, mediated by Oman, were ongoing.
