Karachi, Pakistan (ANTARA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad on Saturday to revive stalled peace negotiations between Iran and the United States aimed at ending the war.

In a short video uploaded by the Iranian Embassy on its X account, the meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and National Security Adviser cum Inter-Services Intelligence Chief Lieutenant General Asim Malik.

Also present were Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei and Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam.

Although the Iranian Embassy did not provide further details, several Pakistani sources told Anadolu that the two sides discussed matters related to the potential second round of talks between the United States and Iran in the coming days.

The talks took place after Pakistan mediated a two-week ceasefire that began on 8 April and was extended by US President Donald Trump.

Araghchi will also hold talks with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

Meanwhile, the White House said that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner also travelled to Pakistan on Saturday.

However, Iran refused to hold direct talks with the US in Islamabad and said Tehran’s views would only be conveyed to Pakistan.
