Iranian Foreign Minister: 600 Schools Destroyed Due to US-Israel Attacks, 1,000 Students and Teachers Become Victims
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, delivered a shocking report during an emergency discussion at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. He revealed that since the US and Israel initiated military actions on 28 February 2026, more than 600 schools across Iran have been destroyed or suffered severe damage.
Speaking via video link on Friday (27/3/2026), Araghchi detailed the immense humanitarian impact, with more than 1,000 students and teachers reported killed or injured due to the attacks.
One of the most crucial points in his speech was the attack on a primary school in the southern Iranian city of Minab. Araghchi described the incident as a “deliberate” strike that killed more than 175 students and teachers.
“Given the most advanced technology as well as the military systems and highest precision data possessed by the attackers, no one can believe that the attack on this school was not an intentional act,” Araghchi emphasised. He referred to the Minab incident as a war crime and a crime against humanity that must be strongly condemned.
The Iranian Foreign Minister asserted that his country is now in the midst of a “brutal and unjustifiable illegal war shock.” He condemned the consistent pattern of attacks targeting vital civilian infrastructure, including:
“The attackers’ targeting pattern, accompanied by their rhetoric, leaves almost no doubt about their clear intent to commit genocide,” he stated before the international forum.
Despite being under pressure, Araghchi emphasised that Iran never wanted war. However, he assured that the Iranian people have a strong determination to defend themselves against all forms of aggression.
He concluded his statement with a global call for those responsible for the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the deaths of children to be held accountable through international legal channels.
Donald Trump once accused Iran of the deadly attack on the Minab primary school. However, investigations revealed that the missile was a US Tomahawk that missed its target due to outdated intelligence data.
The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, including Tehran, causing infrastructure damage and casualties.
According to the Iranian side, the victims were children at school to learn and prepare for their future.
Zakharova assessed the attacks as a blatant violation of international rules and emphasised that diplomatic facilities must be protected.
The situation could drag many countries into more difficult economic and political circumstances.
In addition to urging the parties to exercise restraint, Indonesia also pressed for the tension to be reduced immediately and for negotiation steps through dialogue.
