Jakarta — Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s offer to serve as a mediator following attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Boroujerdi expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Indonesian Government for its willingness to facilitate dialogue following the strikes.

However, Iran maintains the view that to date there have been no mediations or negotiations that have had a significant impact.

“We believe that there are currently no negotiations or talks with the American government that will be useful, because they are not bound and do not comply with any outcomes,” Boroujerdi stated firmly during a press conference in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday 2 March 2026.

Additionally, he expressed hope that Islamic nations would support Iran through international organisational mechanisms, such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN).

“And third, to conduct a ‘Say No to War’ campaign and reject war throughout the world, and to show their opposition to all types of warfare,” he emphasised.

This official statement follows combined air strikes launched by US and Israeli military forces against numerous regions in Iran.

“Indonesia calls on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy,” according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X.

“The Indonesian Government states its readiness to facilitate dialogue to restore conducive security conditions. If agreed by both parties, the Indonesian President is prepared to travel to Teheran to conduct mediation,” the statement added.
