Iran will no longer launch missiles with warheads under one tonne at US-Israel targets
Ankara – Iran will no longer launch missiles with warheads lighter than one tonne at targets in the United States and Israel, according to the Commander of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), on Monday (9 March).
According to statements reported by local media, IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Majid Mousavi stated that missile attacks targeting Israel and US objectives are expected to intensify further.
Regional escalation has intensified since Israel and the United States launched a joint strike against Iran on 28 February, which Iranian authorities claim killed more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran subsequently retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets, characterising the response as self-defence.
Previously, Iran had placed US economic assets on a “target list” for attacks, according to reports from the Fars News Agency on Sunday (8 March).
Citing an unnamed Iranian official, the news agency reported that Tehran has reviewed its targeting strategy, no longer focusing exclusively on US and Israeli military targets.
According to the official, Iran has expanded its “target list” to include “American capital and interests.”
The official stated the decision was made following various statements from US and Israeli officials which he characterised as “direct threats against the Iranian people.”
