The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia has welcomed President Prabowo Subianto’s offer of mediation amidst the escalating conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel.

Tehran has expressed appreciation for Jakarta’s move whilst urging Indonesia to adopt a firm stance against the aggression allegedly perpetrated by Washington and Tel Aviv.

The statement was conveyed through an official declaration by the Iranian Embassy in Indonesia on Sunday, 1 March. The embassy expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s position whilst encouraging the government to take a firm stance against Washington and Tel Aviv.

“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia, whilst expressing appreciation for the consistent support of the Government and people of Indonesia and welcoming the readiness of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to mediate in this conflict, reaffirms the importance of Indonesian officials taking a firm stance in condemning the aggression and crimes of the United States of America and the Zionist regime of Israel,” stated the Iranian Embassy’s official statement.

In that declaration, Iran also outlined its long history of hostility with the United States.

They cited US intervention and aggression spanning approximately seven decades, tracing its origins to the coup against Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh on 19 August 1953.

According to the embassy, following that incident, the US imposed political and economic sanctions against Iran, supported organisations described as terrorist groups including the Mujahidin-e Khalq Organisation (MKO), and was alleged to be involved in the assassination of Iranian civilians, political officials, military personnel and nuclear scientists.

They also accused Washington of creating terrorism and extremism to operationalise Islamophobia and Iranophobia projects globally.

Iran also referenced several other incidents, including the shooting down of an Iranian Airbus by the USS Vincennes warship in the Persian Gulf, the killing of an Iranian commander in 2026 in Iraq, US support for Israeli strikes in Damascus in April 2024, backing for Israeli attacks on military facilities in October 2024, support for attacks in June 2025, and allegations of hijacking civilian peaceful protests in January 2026.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated its readiness to facilitate dialogue should both conflicting parties agree.

“The Government of Indonesia, in this regard the President of the Republic of Indonesia, has expressed its readiness to facilitate dialogue for the restoration of a secure and conducive security environment and should both parties agree,” stated the Foreign Ministry statement on Saturday, 28 February.

The Foreign Ministry also affirmed that the Indonesian President is willing to travel to Tehran to conduct mediation. According to the ministry, increasing tensions in the Middle East have the potential to disrupt regional stability and global peace and security.

“Indonesia deeply regrets the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which has resulted in military escalation in the Middle East region,” the Indonesian Foreign Ministry stated.

Tensions have escalated following joint strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, following the failure of Washington and Tehran to reach an agreement in indirect nuclear negotiations.

During the negotiation process, US President Donald Trump repeatedly warned of launching strikes if no agreement was reached. Trump stressed that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons and sought strict limitations on the country’s ballistic missile programme.
