Iran-US Tensions Worry Investors, Check Today's Stock Recommendations
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) ended trading on Friday (10/04) in positive territory, up 2.07% to 7,458.50.
This strengthening was supported by the performance of banking and conglomerate stocks, with BBCA (+3.47%), TPIA (+16.83%), and BBRI (+3.35%) as the main drivers. On the other hand, DSSA (-0.32%), ANTM (-1.07%), and AMRT (-1.00%) weighed on the index’s movement.
Foreign investor activity recorded net inflows of Rp239.92 billion in the regular market and Rp193.91 billion across all markets. Sector-wise, all sectors strengthened, with the industrial sector leading the gains at 4.29%.
In global markets, US stock indices closed mixed. The Dow Jones weakened 0.56% to 47,916, the S&P 500 dipped slightly 0.11% to 6,816, while the Nasdaq rose 0.35% to 22,902.
The Wall Street decline was triggered by the release of inflation data reflecting pressure from rising energy prices on purchasing power. Nevertheless, this sentiment did not pressure Indonesia-based instruments in global markets, as evidenced by the EIDO ETF’s 0.82% gain and MSCI Indonesia’s 2.57% rise. Developments related to US-Iran negotiations have not yet been reflected in market price movements.
In the latest developments, weekend negotiations in Islamabad have reignited concerns that the US-Iran war will last longer than expected, leading to sustained rises in oil prices that will continue to burden the global economy.
