Iran Taunts Trump Over US Helicopter Downing That Triggered Retaliatory Strikes
Iran displayed a fearless attitude towards facing open war with the United States on Wednesday (10/06/2026). This stance was announced shortly before the United States launched retaliatory strikes against the Persian nation after a Tehran missile shot down its helicopter.
Citing Al Jazeera, tensions peaked after Iran’s foreign minister issued a stern warning on social media following the resumption of US military air strikes. Iran claimed that any form of threat would never be allowed without a retaliatory response.
‘Despite suffering defeats on the battlefield, the US has chosen to test our resolve. Our Strong Armed Forces will not leave any attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe,’ asserted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi via his social media account.
Araghchi also clarified the legal status of the Strait of Hormuz area, where the US military helicopter crashed. He stated that the strait is by no means international waters but rather a shared territory between Iran and Oman. The sea lane is also thousands of miles from the US coastline, making the maritime boundaries there very clear.
‘Our Strong Armed Forces are in a state of constant vigilance against any violation of Iran’s air, land, or maritime space,’ Araghchi added before the US retaliatory strikes occurred.
He also added that the presence of foreign forces near Iranian territorial waters is under constant risk from human error or pure accidents. These foreign forces are also highly vulnerable to being caught in crossfire.
Minutes before the helicopter claim emerged, the Iranian parliament had already declared its readiness for armed combat on the battlefield. They argued that the US naval blockade of Iranian ports and Israeli attacks on Lebanon had violated the peace agreement.
‘We prefer the language of diplomacy, but we speak another language far more fluently. Violate your commitments, and we will switch to what we speak best,’ declared Parliament Speaker and Chief Negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf via his X social media account.
Ghalibaf also added a threatening remark to mock the political steps taken by the enemy.
‘You are riding the horse you saddled yourself!’ he jabbed.
Earlier, a US Apache helicopter was reported shot down in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump himself had reported on the safety status of the aircrew aboard the combat helicopter.
‘There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must necessarily respond to this attack,’ Trump explained, adding the conditions for his actions.
Within hours of the president’s post, the United States Central Command, or Centcom, directly announced the commencement of air strikes. The US military confirmed the strikes were launched around 5:00 PM Eastern time under the pretext of self-defence.
Several media reports mentioned loud explosions beginning to rumble in the southern Iranian port city of Sirik. The US missile strikes were also reported to have hit several other defence sites around the Strait of Hormuz.
‘This mission was a proportional response to Iran’s unjustifiable aggression,’ Centcom stated in its official statement regarding the military operation.
