Doha (ANTARA) - Iran has resumed supplying gas to Iraq at a rate of 5 million cubic metres per day after it was temporarily halted due to attacks on gas infrastructure, according to Iraqi Electricity Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Musa. “Today, Iran’s gas supply to Iraq has resumed at 5 million cubic metres. The gas volume will be gradually restored to strengthen the national electricity network and increase the operational capacity of power plants,” Musa said on Saturday (21/3). He added that Iraq’s power plants were affected by the temporary halt in Iranian gas supplies, prompting the government to take alternative measures by utilising domestic gas and switching some plants to diesel fuel. On 28 February, the US and Israel began attacking several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and killing civilians. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes on Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East.
