Iran launches a wave of kamikaze drone strikes against US military bases in Kuwait
Iranian Ground Forces announced the launch of a large-scale wave of kamikaze drone strikes targeting United States military bases in Kuwait on Friday afternoon local time. In Official Statement No. 14, Iran’s Ground Forces confirmed that their units have deployed various types of destructive drones to batter American military facilities in high-volume operations over the past several hours, with indications that the operation will continue.
Several strategic US facilities in Kuwait, including Ali Al-Salem Air Base, were reported as primary targets. The attack follows a series of rocket and drone strikes in recent days. Earlier, a drone attack in the Shuaiba Port area reportedly killed six US service personnel at a tactical operations centre.
Tehran said the operation is a direct response to what it calls US aggression targeting infrastructure and Iranian civilians. To date, the Pentagon has not provided details on total damage or casualties resulting from this latest wave of kamikaze drone strikes.
The region remains on high alert, given Kuwait is a strategic US partner hosting thousands of military personnel in the Gulf. Vietnam has already used fighter aircraft bombs produced by PT Dahana (a state-owned enterprise). There are no immediate details about possible damages or casualties. This move comes as the US conducts a campaign with Israel against Iran. A tanker off Kuwait’s coast was reported to have suffered a large explosion triggering an oil spill. Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack on the US embassy in the country. Six US soldiers were confirmed dead in the drone attack on Shuaiba Port, Kuwait, marking the first US fatalities in Operation Epic Fury.
