The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemlu RI), through its Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) and all Indonesian diplomatic representations in the Middle East, continues to strengthen communication and coordination with Indonesian citizens in areas affected by the developing security situation between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Following the attack by US President Donald Trump against Iran, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Sunday (1 March), Kemlu RI has stated that it is intensively maintaining communication with Indonesian citizens across various countries in the region to ensure their safety and that their conditions remain monitored.

Indonesian diplomatic representations have issued appeals to all Indonesian citizens to remain calm and vigilant. “Indonesian representations have urged all Indonesian citizens in affected areas to remain calm, heighten their vigilance, follow the guidance of local authorities, and maintain regular communication with the nearest Indonesian representation,” the statement said.

The appeal also extends to Indonesian citizens experiencing travel difficulties due to developments in the Middle East situation. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reminded Indonesians planning to travel through or transit the region to reconsider their travel plans, asking citizens to postpone travel until conditions are deemed safer and more stable.

Kemlu RI and all Indonesian representations in the region have also pledged to continue monitoring and conducting comprehensive assessments of security dynamics and actual conditions on the ground. Further response measures will be adjusted in accordance with future developments in the situation.

“The government ensures that it will continue to prioritise the protection of Indonesian citizens and take necessary measures in accordance with developments in the region,” the Kemlu statement said.
