Iran Insists No Negotiations with US, Labels Trump's Claims as Fake News
The Iranian government has strongly denied claims by US President Donald Trump regarding talks to halt the war, labelling them as untrue information.
The Iranian government has emphasised that no negotiations are taking place with the United States, following claims by US President Donald Trump of productive discussions to end the conflict.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued the denial via social media on Monday (23/3).
“No negotiations are being conducted with the US,” Ghalibaf wrote, quoted from Al Jazeera.
He also accused the claims of being an attempt to manipulate information. “Fake news is being used to manipulate financial and oil markets, and to escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are stuck,” he continued.
The statement also responds to Trump’s earlier claim of “very good and productive conversations” between the two sides.
In agreement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei also denied any direct discussions with Washington.
He confirmed that Iran has received messages from several friendly countries regarding the United States’ request to open negotiation channels to end the war.
Past experiences show that every negotiation process with the United States ends in agreement violations or even military attacks against Iran.
Previously, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed not to let the attacks launched by the US and Israel on Saturday (28/2) go unanswered.
Iran rejects US missile restrictions despite being ready to continue negotiations. Tehran insists that the missile programme cannot be negotiated amid Israeli pressures.
Araghchi emphasised that negotiations are only possible if conducted fairly and equally. According to him, the ideal conditions for such dialogue have not yet been met.
