Iran denies it will negotiate with the United States
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Monday denied claims that Tehran is seeking to resume negotiations with Washington and affirmed that Iran will not engage in talks with the United States.
The statement was made by Larijani via the X platform, responding to reports claiming that Iran had launched a new initiative to negotiate with the US.
Referencing a report from Al Jazeera citing the Wall Street Journal, Larijani claimed he was attempting to continue negotiations with Washington through Oman.
“We will not negotiate with the US,” he said.
In a separate post, Larijani also responded to statements made by US President Donald Trump regarding Iran.
He criticised Trump for allegedly dragging the region into chaos with “empty illusions.”
He also accused Trump of “making American soldiers and their families pay the price through new lies.”
A joint US-Israeli military campaign launched on Saturday reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Tehran responded by launching drone and missile attacks targeting several Gulf states. Three US military personnel were reported killed and five others sustained serious injuries.
