Iran’s government has rejected reports from American media outlet Axios claiming that Tehran has been attempting to establish communication with Washington in recent days.

An unnamed official Iranian source told the Tasnim news agency that the American media report about Iran’s efforts to open a communication channel with Washington constitutes “outright lies” and is unrealistic.

According to the source, accusations that Iran is sending negotiation signals are baseless. The official contended that intensifying military and economic pressure on President Donald Trump’s administration is what is prompting Washington to send political signals to influence the global energy market.

The source also emphasised that aggressive actions and military operations against Iranian citizens show no signs of declining. On the contrary, their intensity is reportedly increasing.

“Iran has no trust in Trump’s promises,” the source stated. The official accused the previous American president of attacking Iran at least twice during ongoing negotiations.

The source stressed that no agreement would be acceptable unless it guarantees Iran’s long-term national security interests and those of its regional partners. It also stated that the regional situation would not return to pre-war conditions.

This statement aligns with the position of Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who previously affirmed that Iran has never requested a ceasefire since the conflict began.

Speaking in Tehran, Araghchi said Iran has not sent messages or ceasefire requests since the military campaign by the US and Israel commenced. He stated that Iran will continue resistance as long as necessary.

The conflict escalated on 28 February, when the US and Israel launched a large-scale air assault on numerous military and civilian targets in Iran. The strike reportedly caused casualties and infrastructure damage.

In response, Iran’s Armed Forces launched retaliatory strikes against American and Israeli positions in occupied territories and regional bases, using missiles and unmanned aircraft.
