Iran Claims No Uranium Has Left Its Territory
Tehran (ANTARA) - A member of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Behnam Saeedi, emphasised on Thursday (7/5) that no uranium has been removed from Iran, and described US President Donald Trump’s statement as a “lie”.
Trump had previously stated that the transfer of Iranian uranium to the United States would be a condition for an agreement between the two countries, and rejected the possibility of Iran enriching up to 3.67 percent.
“Trump’s statement about the removal of 400 kilograms of uranium from Iran is political bluffing and pure lies. No uranium has been removed from this country,” Saeedi said, quoted by ISNA.
Tensions have escalated since 28 February, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran, causing damage and civilian casualties.
On 7 April, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire, but follow-up talks in Islamabad ended without agreement.
Trump then extended the suspension of attacks to give Iran time to prepare a “comprehensive proposal.”
