Washington (ANTARA) - Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has asserted that there is no military solution to the political crisis and warned the United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) against further escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The events in Hormuz make it clear that there is no military solution to the political crisis. With progress in talks through Pakistan’s good offices, the United States must be cautious not to be dragged back into the quagmire by ill-intentioned parties; the same applies to the UAE,” Araghchi stated on platform X on Tuesday.

Araghchi also rejected Washington’s “Project Freedom” plan to escort commercial ships out of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a dead-end project.

The UAE subsequently reported the launch of a fourth wave of missiles and drones from Iran, stating that its air defence system intercepted 15 missiles and four unmanned aerial vehicles.

Additionally, a fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industrial Zone, a major energy hub on the UAE’s east coast, after it was struck by drones launched from Iran.

Both sides agreed to a ceasefire since 8 April through Pakistan’s mediation. However, the talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement.

The ceasefire was then extended indefinitely by US President Donald Trump without a specified timeframe.
