IPTN unit eyes KL market

BANDUNG (JP): Universal Maintenance Center PT Nusantara Turbin & Propulsi (UMC-NTP), a subsidiary of state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT IPTN, is hoping to secure a contract in Malaysia.

UMC-NTP marketing support manager Mulyanto said here on Wednesday the company was audited by the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation and declared qualified to enter the market.

He said the contract would be to provide maintenance services for either Pratt & Whitney JTBD engines used in Boeing 737s, Alison A-250 engines used in Bell-206s or General Electric CT-7 engines in CN-235s.

"If obtained, we estimate the contract would yield about US$4 million a year; a figure which could possibly increase over the years," he said.

Mulyanto said UMC-NTP had provided similar services in the Philippines, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, India, Brunei Darussalam, Bangladesh and the United States. (43/cst)
