Jakarta (ANTARA) - Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new Siri app in its latest operating systems, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, complete with a feature called “Extensions”.

According to a report from MacRumors on Sunday (29/3) local time, this news reinforces Apple’s plans to make its artificial intelligence (AI) system more reliable, as revealed last week by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

The latest reports indicate that with the new Siri app, iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will be able to interact with Apple’s assistant in both text and voice modes.

The app will also give users access to their previous conversations with Siri.

Discussing the “Extensions” feature in particular, it appears to allow additional third-party chatbots to connect with Siri, similar to how Siri has been able to connect with ChatGPT since iOS 18.2.

“Extensions enable agents from installed apps to work with Siri, the Siri app, and other features on your device,” states a small note in the Settings app in the internal pre-release version of iOS 27.

The first developer beta version of iOS 27 is expected to be available in June 2026, ahead of the wide release to all users in September 2026.

In his newsletter, Gurman stated that the App Store will have a dedicated “Extensions” section.

That small note also appears to confirm that Apple is indeed testing the Siri app.

It remains unclear whether the Siri app will be available on all iPhone models compatible with iOS 27, or if it will require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer with Apple Intelligence support.

In addition to support for connecting with more third-party chatbots, Siri will receive a major overhaul in iOS 27. Mark Gurman predicts that Siri will feature a redesigned interface, possibly involving Dynamic Island, and there will apparently be a “Ask Siri” button across Apple apps and a “Write with Siri” button above the keyboard.
