Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry opens wider opportunities for investors to invest in the fishery sector in East Indonesia.

"Indonesia is opening wider opportunities for investors to invest in maritime and fishery sector in East Indonesia," Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad said here on Tuesday.

The minister hoped that investment in maritime and fishery sector in East Indonesia could have a positive contribution to national revenue and the investors themselves.

Fadel Muhammad explained that his office had limited funds for the development of integrated fishery industry and therefore participation of private companies was expected for an optimal and sustainable management of marine resources in East Indonesia.

"With the support and participation of private parties, optimal management of the maritime and fishery sector as the main driving wheels of the national economy can be reached for national welfare," Fadel said.

Beside involving private parties in the management of maritime and fishery sector, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry has also made every effort to develop and strengthen the economy of the people, especially those in the border regions.
