Assessing benefits of FDI to the nation
It is a stretch of the imagination to think that domestic capital offers more benefit to a nation compared to FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) or vice versa. This is a false dichotomy, dressed in rhetoric for political expedience. In and of itself, origin is less meaningful than impact. What matters are outcomes; they are what ought to be measured.

Indonesian Shipping Law to Make Waves in New Enforcement
Hong Kong. Starting in January, all commercial vessels operating domestically in Indonesian waters will be required to fly the Indonesian flag under a 2005 law just coming into effect. Shipping industry executives say some 80 percent of the vessels servicing Indonesia’s offshore oil and gas industry carry foreign flags, primarily Singaporean, and the change could increase costs and cause chaos, especially for the local energy industry.

Indonesia, Austria sign investment cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Austria on Tuesday signed three investment cooperation agreements as a follow up to the results of a recent meeting between Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa and Austrian Economic Minister Reinhold Mitterlehner. The agreements provided for investment in transportation, electricity, and electromagnetic projects.

Investors Invited to Invest In East Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry opens wider opportunities for investors to invest in the fishery sector in East Indonesia. "Indonesia is opening wider opportunities for investors to invest in maritime and fishery sector in East Indonesia," Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad said here on Tuesday.
