Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani Vows Crackdown on Thuggery at Industrial Estates Including BYD Factory
Investment and Downstream Industries Minister/BKPM Head and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani has affirmed that the government is taking the issue of thuggery prevalent in a number of industrial estates, including the BYD factory, very seriously.
He stated that such practices could have a negative impact on Indonesia's investment climate.
"We have received the reports and are coordinating with the National Police Chief as well as local governments to ensure these incidents do not occur. Because this has a negative impact on incoming investment," Rosan told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday (29 April).
According to Rosan, acts of thuggery that disrupt factory operations and intimidate investors cannot be tolerated. He conveyed that the government has taken concrete steps to follow up on the reports.
"I have also instructed that all these reports be coordinated directly with the National Police Chief, Provincial Police Chiefs, District Police Chiefs, and even Sub-district Police Chiefs. We have coordinated to ensure these incidents must not happen again," he said.
Rosan also confirmed that complaints from investors regarding the thuggery have indeed been received.
"Yes, there have been complaints from investors," he affirmed.
