Investment Contribution to Economy Rises, Reaching 32% in Q1 2026
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani stated that investment contributed around 32% to Indonesia’s economic growth of 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026.
Rosan said that this investment contribution is higher than previous trends, which generally ranged from 28 to 29%.
“Alhamdulillah, this 5.61% economic growth shows that our economy is running very well, very positive,” Rosan said after a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
He explained that out of the total growth, investment provided a contribution of around 1.8 percentage points.
“From my portion, in terms of investment, it contributes 32% of the total 5.61% growth or about 1.8%,” he said.
According to him, the increase in investment contribution is one of the factors driving the strong performance of the national economy. Rosan said that investment has generally contributed below 30% to economic growth so far.
“So far, investment has contributed around 28 to 29% usually. Alhamdulillah, this (has increased to) 32%,” he said.
He assessed that this achievement reflects investment activities running above target during that period. According to him, strong investment performance has a positive impact on various economic sectors. Rosan added that a larger investment contribution is expected to maintain the momentum of economic growth going forward.
He said the government will continue to encourage a conducive investment climate amid global dynamics. In addition, the increase in investment is also seen as strengthening business players’ confidence in the domestic economic conditions.
Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.61% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026.
BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stated that this growth was supported by strong domestic economic activities.
In value terms, Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded at Rp3,447.7 trillion on a constant price basis (ADHK) and Rp6,187.2 trillion on a current price basis (ADHB).
