Int'l diving meet in Bandas

JAKARTA (JP): The Banda Islands in Maluku will host an
international scuba diving championship from Nov. 15 until Nov.
18. The championship will feature two events: fin swimming and an
under-water photography shoot-out.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Hayono Isman is scheduled
to open the championship. About 100 divers and under-water
photographers from the Netherlands, Australia, England and the
United States will take part in the meet, chairman of the
organizing committee Chris Rahanra said in the Maluku capital
Ambon.

The championship, which offers total prize money of US$28,000,
will be the second meet held in the Banda Islands. The first was
in 1993. (arf)
