Int'l book fair in Jakarta
JAKARTA (JP): The central board of the Indonesian Publishers Association is to hold its international book fair this year from Sept. 24 to Sept. 29.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Setia Dharma Madjid, said the fair at the Senayan sports hall, Central Jakarta, is part of the latest efforts to promote reading and library visits.
He said the 1996 book fair, co-organized with the Book Reading Society, will involve at least 53 Indonesian publishers and some foreign firms.
The publishers will offer discounts of between 20 percent to 40 percent to visitors to the fair.
He said the fair will be attended by Mr. and Miss. Book Lovers from the country's 27 provinces.
The committee will also hold a seminar on the Internet, a meeting with French publishers, dances and cheerleader festival. (jun)
