Interpol Fugitive Rifaldo Arrested at Ngurah Rai Airport for Human Trafficking and Online Fraud in Cambodia
Jakarta — Interpol fugitive Rifaldo Aquiono Pontoh, an Indonesian national suspected of involvement in human trafficking and international online fraud networks in Cambodia, has been arrested by a joint Indonesian National Police (Polri) team.
Head of the Transnational Crime Division of Polri's International Relations Division, Commissioner Ricky Purnama, explained that Rifaldo was apprehended on Saturday (21 February) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.
"A joint Polri team comprising personnel from the NCB Interpol Indonesia Secretariat, the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, and the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police, together with the airport's Immigration Office, successfully arrested the Interpol red notice subject, Indonesian national Rifaldo Aquiono Pontoh," Ricky said in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
He detailed that Rifaldo's criminal modus operandi included exploiting social media to advertise job vacancies promising high salaries. In reality, however, victims were subjected to severe violence.
"This included passport confiscation, unpaid wages, and coercive conditions requiring victims to pay exorbitant fees to resign or return to Indonesia," Ricky said.
The arrest originated from information received by the National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Indonesia from NCB Manila on Friday (20 February) regarding Rifaldo's planned transit from Cambodia to the Philippines before continuing his journey to Bali.
Armed with this intelligence, the NCB Interpol Indonesia Secretariat immediately coordinated with the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police, and the airport's Immigration Office.
"As a result, Rifaldo was successfully arrested at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali," Ricky concluded.
