Inside Tangerang's 'Padel Village': Courts Springing Up Right Next to Residents' Homes
An area in Tangerang Regency, Banten, has been dubbed ‘Padel Village’ due to the mushrooming number of padel courts in the locality. Most are situated in the villages of Pagerhaur and Rancalele, in the Pagedangan sub-district.
Based on observations by detikcom on Tuesday (24/2/2026), there are approximately seven padel courts across the two villages along Jalan Raya Pagedangan. The court locations are closely clustered, with some directly opposite one another.
In Rancalele, for instance, two courts sit in close proximity, separated by a distance of only around 10 to 15 metres.
In Pagerhaur, meanwhile, there are roughly six padel courts. The distances between them are similarly short — some are side by side, others across the road, with the furthest apart being approximately 10 to 15 metres.
Most of the padel courts in the area have parking facilities set back from the road. Some have their parking areas and courts on separate plots of land.
Notably, the courts are located directly within residential neighbourhoods. Some are positioned right alongside the walls of residents’ homes.
In other words, homeowners can watch padel matches directly from their windows. Other courts are situated among rows of shops, food stalls, and vehicle repair workshops.
Beyond padel courts, other sports facilities can be found in the area, including gyms, golf driving ranges, and badminton courts. There are even specialist retail shops selling padel and golf equipment.
