InJourney Prepares 16,000 Personnel to Manage 9 Million Passengers During 2026 Eid Holiday Rush
JAKARTA — PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney, is preparing approximately 16,000 personnel to manage increased passenger flows during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period. This workforce will accommodate approximately 9 million passenger movements across 37 airports managed by InJourney Airports throughout Indonesia.
InJourney’s Chief Executive Officer, Maya Watono, stated that passenger traffic during the Eid period is estimated to increase approximately 2 per cent compared to the previous year.
“During this Eid period, we anticipate approximately 9 million passenger movements. This figure represents an increase of approximately 2 per cent compared to last year,” said Maya at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
To accommodate the anticipated passenger surge, InJourney is deploying approximately 3,000 additional personnel, bringing the total number of staff positioned during the Eid holiday period to nearly 16,000. These personnel include airport personnel and engineering specialists in aviation services.
“We are adding approximately 3,000 personnel who will be on standby 24 hours across all airports during the Eid holiday period. In total, there are nearly 16,000 personnel from airport and aviation services ready to serve passengers,” she said.
Beyond personnel readiness, InJourney is also preparing for potential flight disruptions arising from current global geopolitical dynamics, which have recently caused flight delays and cancellations.
“Given the current geopolitical situation, we must certainly anticipate various possibilities such as delays or flight cancellations. However, we are committed to continuing to provide the best service to passengers,” said Maya.
She added that preparations for the Eid holiday rush are not only the responsibility of airport management but also involve the entire ecosystem within InJourney’s holding.
“We refer to this as collective effort within the ecosystem. From upstream to downstream, it is impossible to operate without collaboration from all parties within the aviation and tourism ecosystem,” she said.
On another note, Maya emphasised that the aviation and tourism sectors have substantial economic impact for Indonesia. According to her, each additional one million foreign tourists can contribute approximately Rp 40 trillion to Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP).
“This means that if there are an additional 10 million international passengers, the potential contribution could reach approximately Rp 400 trillion to the national economy. Therefore, the aviation and tourism sectors play an important role in driving economic growth,” she said.
“The spirit we uphold is serving with all our heart. Whether at airports or tourism destinations we manage, the spirit is the same: providing the best service to the community,” she emphasised.
