Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) recorded a total passenger movement of 38.20 million at 37 airports in the first quarter of 2026, an increase of approximately 5 per cent compared to the same period in the previous year, which was 36.38 million.

“Over the first three months of this year, the number of domestic route passengers reached 28.38 million, and international route passengers hit 9.82 million,” said the President Director of InJourney Airports, Mohammad R. Pahlevi, in his statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

He also conveyed that the total aircraft movements also recorded an increase of 8.7 per cent, from 275,782 flights to 299,759 flights.

He explained that the increase in air traffic was in line with the growing demand for flights during the Christmas and New Year holiday period in January 2026, as well as the Eid al-Fitr transportation in 1447 Hijriah in March 2026.

He stated that the increased demand for air travel during the peak seasons in January 2026 and March 2026 could be accommodated by InJourney Airports through good collaboration with all airport stakeholders.

“We thank all parties for their support so that overall, InJourney Airports’ airports could serve air passengers well and smoothly during those busy periods,” said Pahlevi.

Meanwhile, during both peak seasons, all airports managed by InJourney Airports were prepared 24 hours a day, adjusted to the needs of airlines to ensure flight availability and as an effort to utilise flight slot times at the airports.

According to him, the increase in the number of passengers and flights was also driven by the opening of new flight routes at various airports as a manifestation of close collaboration between InJourney Airports and airlines.

He also stated that his side collaborated with various parties to strengthen air connectivity in Indonesia through the opening of new flight routes, both domestic and international.

“This is InJourney Airports’ effort in carrying out its role as an agent of development and value creator to contribute to national economic growth,” he said.

The five busiest airports in the first three months of this year were Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang (13.48 million passengers), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali (5.34 million passengers), Juanda Airport in Surabaya (3.21 million), Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar (2.34 million passengers), and Kualanamu Airport in Deli Serdang (1.80 million passengers).

In the second quarter of 2026, Pahlevi continued, the airports managed by InJourney Airports, among others, will focus on serving prospective Hajj pilgrims during the Hajj transportation period, and services during the school holiday period.

InJourney Airports is committed to continuously improving services and facilities at all airports through sustainable transformation that is also being carried out this year in aspects of world-class infrastructure and facilities (premises), airport staff with world-class services (people), and airport operations based on an ecosystem (process).

“And of course, relying on technology as an enabler function,” said Pahlevi.
