PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) brings the warmth of Ramadan to airports through thematic designs in passenger terminals. This initiative is to accompany travellers’ journeys during the Eid al-Fitr exodus (mudik).

“The mudik tradition, which will begin next week, is a special moment for Indonesians, a moment when we travel to meet family in our hometowns. InJourney Airports brings the warmth of Ramadan to the airport to accompany the mudik travellers,” said InJourney Airports’ Chief Executive Mohammad R. Pahlevi in a statement on Friday (6 March 2026).

At Soekarno-Hatta Tangerang, each passenger terminal is dressed with a unique and distinct thematic design. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is Indonesia’s busiest airport with an average of around 150,000 passengers per day, even higher during busy periods such as the Lebaran exodus.

Pahlevi said the thematic design at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport carries the theme ‘Serene Crescent’ which showcases the elegance of the archipelago fused with a serene and sacred aura.

“At each entrance to Terminal 3, there is a ‘tunnel gate’ dominated by a calming blue palette paired with a row of artistic lanterns. This ‘tunnel gate’ seems to usher travellers to prepare for travel and experience a seamless journey experience,” Pahlevi explained.

“After passing through this tunnel gate, travellers and visitors step into the check-in area, to encounter a focal point in the form of a grand installation shaped like an ornamental dome.”

“Moreover, the nine-by-nine metre dome installation rises above an area of twelve by twenty-one metres, blending Nusantara richness through batik motifs and the beauty of TimTeng architecture. Inside the area there are living plants, an activation stage, and lantern decorations that reinforce the tranquil atmosphere.”

“Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, meanwhile, present the thematic design ‘Desert Harmony’ inspired by the warmth of Nusantara cultural heritage wrapped in an earth-toned colour palette. The Nusantara heritage in this thematic design is presented with batik motifs in earth tones, elements of rattan and teak, and weaving, also equipped with artistic lanterns.”

“Similar to Terminal 3, the ‘Desert Harmony’ theme is implemented in installations such as ‘tunnel gates’ at each entrance to Terminals 1 and 2, as well as focal points. Other airports under InJourney Airports also feature the thematic designs ‘Serene Crescent’ or ‘Desert Harmony’.”

“At I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, Ramadan ambience installations began on 5 March 2026, and on 9 March 2026 the focal point installations began as a centrepiece in the terminal, which can also be used as a meeting point or photo spot.”

“‘Two of Indonesia’s busiest airports, Soekarno-Hatta Tangerang and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali, are the pilot projects for these thematic installations. Passengers travelling through other airports will also encounter similar thematic designs. Of course, these thematic designs will be adjusted to the needs of each airport to deliver the best service,’ Pahlevi said.”

The Eid exodus is the peak period for air traffic. Through Ramadan-themed design touches, InJourney Airports aims to create a travel atmosphere that is comfortable and memorable amid the high volume of air traffic.
