The RAGA (Riau Anti-Gang and Anarchism) team of Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Police, Riau, dispersed illegal motorcycle racing on Jalan Telaga Biru Parit 8 that was taking place in the hours before sahur. During the operation, police seized 14 motorcycles.

The operation was led directly by Inhil Police Traffic Unit Chief AKP Ricky Marzuki, together with a joint team comprising the Criminal Investigation Unit, Intelligence and Security Unit, the RAGA Team, and personnel from Tembilahan Hulu Sector Police.

Inhil Police Chief AKBP Farouk Oktora said the enforcement was carried out to minimise traffic violations, prevent road accidents, and anticipate potential street crime that frequently occurs during the pre-dawn hours.

Officers successfully secured 14 motorcycles suspected of being used in illegal racing. The vehicles were impounded for further processing in accordance with applicable regulations.

“This operation represents Indragiri Hilir Police’s commitment to maintaining public security and order, particularly during the vulnerable hours before sahur and dawn prayers throughout the holy month of Ramadan,” said Farouk on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

The Police Chief emphasised that his force would not tolerate illegal street racing, as it not only violates the law but also gravely endangers the safety of participants and other road users alike.

“The presence of officers in the field is a tangible form of police protection for the public,” he added.

Meanwhile, Inhil Police Traffic Unit Chief AKP Ricky Marzuki said the enforcement was not merely a repressive measure but also prioritised an educational approach. The teenagers involved were given an understanding of the risks of traffic accidents and the legal consequences of their actions.

“We secured 14 two-wheeled vehicles. We urge parents to better supervise their children, and we call on young people to channel their automotive hobbies in appropriate venues that do not breach regulations. Safety comes first,” said Ricky.
