Influencer named as a suspect for discussing theft case on social media
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The owner of the Bibi Kelinci Kopitiam restaurant in Kemang, South Jakarta, named Nabilah O’Brien, says she, who claims to be the victim of the theft, has instead been named a suspect at the Bareskrim Polri after discussing the case on social media. ‘I am the victim of the theft who has become a suspect at Bareskrim Polri. I kept silent for five months because I was afraid to speak out,’ Nabilah said when contacted in Jakarta on Friday. She also conveyed this via her Instagram account @nabobrien, which was viewed on Thursday (5 March). In her post, Nabilah said that for five months she was asked to reveal that what she stated and the CCTV footage she showed were defamatory. Moreover, she claimed she was asked for Rp1 billion in the case. ‘For five months, I was asked to admit that what I disclosed and my CCTV were defamatory, and I was asked for Rp1 billion. I have tried every possible means to defend myself; I am truly afraid,’ Nabilah said. Therefore, she called on the Commission III of the DPR and the Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to ensure justice for her. ‘Sir/Madam, I urge you to provide legal certainty. I am a victim of theft. I hope justice can be upheld. This is all I can do. I do not know where to seek protection,’ she added. ‘Regarding Nabilah Obrien’s post, I have been in contact with Nabila, and I will help coordinate and clarify it according to the facts of the investigation,’ said Manang. Earlier, a husband-and-wife duo initials ZK and ESR were reported to police for allegedly stealing 14 food and beverage orders from a restaurant in the Kemang area, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta. The restaurant owner’s police report, by Nabila, was registered under LP/B/048/IX/2025/SPKT/Polsek Mampang/Polres Metro Jaksel/Polda Metro Jaya. The incident on Thursday (19/9) was captured on CCTV and the video went viral on social media. The incident was reported on the same day. Initially, the alleged theft began when the couple visited Nabila’s restaurant. They ordered 11 meals and three drinks worth a total of Rp530,150. The couple felt their orders were taking too long. They then entered the kitchen and took the ordered food. However, they left the restaurant without paying for the food and drinks. They face charges under Article 363 of the KUHP for theft.
