Indonesia continues to accelerate its transition towards clean energy amid the substantial renewable energy potential the nation possesses. Through the organisation of The 12th IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026, the government together with energy sector stakeholders is working to transform renewable energy development ambitions into concrete steps through collaboration and strengthened green investment to expedite energy transition implementation in Indonesia and the ASEAN region.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), through the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), alongside major clean energy sector stakeholders, has launched The 12th IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026. Entering its 12th edition, the forum will take place 2–4 September 2026 at Jiexpo Kemayoran.

Amid increasingly complex global geopolitical dynamics—ranging from energy price fluctuations and uncertainty in global energy supply chains to mounting climate change pressures—the development of new renewable energy and energy conservation has become a strategic agenda that must be advanced.

The transition towards a cleaner, self-sufficient, and sustainable energy system represents an important part of Indonesia’s energy security and long-term economic stability strategy. In this context, Indonesia alongside ASEAN nations has significant opportunities to capitalise on this momentum through strengthening regional cooperation, accelerating clean energy investment, and developing more efficient and sustainable energy technologies.

As one of Southeast Asia’s largest renewable energy forums, The 12th IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026 is designed to bring together government leaders, industry practitioners, investors, academics, and development partners from various countries. The forum is expected to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy in expediting development of an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable clean energy ecosystem.

With renewable energy potential encompassing solar, hydroelectric, bioenergy, geothermal, and wind energy, Indonesia has significant opportunities to become a centre for clean energy development in Southeast Asia. Government policy support, increasing green investment interest, and strengthened regional cooperation make IndoEBTKE ConEx an important momentum for accelerating sustainable energy solutions in Indonesia and the region.

The Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the ESDM Ministry, Eniya Listiani Dewi, stated that the potential for new renewable energy in Indonesia is substantial and must continue to be optimised to strengthen national energy security whilst reducing emissions. Solar energy potential, for instance, is estimated to reach approximately 3,200 gigawatts, making it one of the strategic clean energy sources for development promotion in the future.

On this occasion, the Director General of EBTKE also emphasised the importance of synergy among various parties in accelerating energy transition. The IndoEBTKE ConEx event is valued as an important momentum for bringing together government, industry practitioners, academics, and society in strengthening collaboration on new renewable energy development in Indonesia.

“We hope this year’s IndoEBTKE ConEx can be held on a larger scale, whilst serving as a collaboration space for all stakeholders to drive new renewable energy development in Indonesia,” said Eniya in an official statement.

Furthermore, she stressed that beyond new renewable energy development, the aspect of energy conservation must also continue to be strengthened as part of sustainable energy transition efforts. In addition to promoting new renewable energy development, Eniya emphasised the need to strengthen energy conservation efforts through applying energy management and energy efficiency across various sectors.

“So that energy use becomes more economical, efficient, and contributes to emission reduction,” Eniya added.

The Director of Project Management and Renewable Energy, Suroso Isnandar, stated that the increased renewable energy target in PLN’s Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025–2034 to 76% demonstrates PLN’s direction of support for energy transition. PLN can drive cooperation among various parties, particularly policymakers, industry practitioners, and investors to collectively achieve this RUPTL target. He hoped that IndoEBTKE ConEx can serve as a strategic forum for discussion, collaboration, consensus among various parties and even investment agreements to accelerate renewable energy in Indonesia and the ASEAN region.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI), Zulfan Zahar, emphasised the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in accelerating renewable energy development.

“Through The 12th IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026, we are promoting stronger synergy between government, the private sector, and international partners to build an innovative and globally competitive clean energy ecosystem,” he explained.

Support for IndoEBTKE ConEx was also conveyed by the Director of Projects and Operations at Pertamina New Renewable Energy (NRE), Norman Ginting. Pertamina NRE’s mandate to develop a renewable energy portfolio requires collaboration and support from technology providers, developers, and contractors to realise major renewable energy project targets.

Pertamina NRE is encouraging innovation and hopes IndoEBTKE ConEx can capture best practices, insights, and global innovation whilst generating recommendations for policies that advance renewable energy in Indonesia and ASEAN.
